Customers Bank Wins 2018 Outstanding Corporation Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals

Wyomissing, Pa. (Nov. 12, 2018) – Customers Bank was honored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Berks Regional Chapter on Nov. 9 during the National Philanthropy Day celebration. This special annual event recognizes the philanthropic contributions of individuals and corporations while providing participants with an avenue to show appreciation for all that has been accomplished, as well as demonstrating the need for additional support.

Nominated by the United Way of Berks County for the numerous programs it supports, Customers Bank received the 2018 Outstanding Corporation Award. Richard "Dick" Ehst, President and Chief Operations Officers for Customers Bank, had the honor of accepting the award on behalf of the Bank.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals presents each award to a single individual or corporation as recognition for their great philanthropic contributions which have enriched the entire community. This year, awards were presented in eight categories including Lifetime Achievement, Outstanding Philanthropist, Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser, Outstanding Corporation, Outstanding Small Business, Outstanding Foundation, Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy and Outstanding Fundraising Executive.

The bank also works with United Way to promote leadership by supporting United Way's Loaned Campaign Specialist Program, which offers employees an exceptional learning experience while they are helping their communities.

Customers Bank and Team Members also partner with United Way to support important education programs including the Ready.Set.READ! Program, which combats the loss of reading skills during summer breaks. Customers Bank and Team Members also support United Way's Books for Bikes Program in the Oakbrook neighborhood, which provides a free bike and helmet to each child who completes 30 of the 40 days, or at least 75 percent, of the Ready.Set.READ! literacy and reading program.

Both Team Members and the Bank continue to demonstrate their commitment to improving the quality of life in the communities in which they operate by supporting a broad range of other nonprofits through volunteer activities and financial contributions. In Berks County alone, these organizations include Alvernia University, Caron Treatment Centers, Veterans Social Center, Hope Rescue Mission, Olivet's Boys and Girls Club, John Paul II Center, Berks Encore, Habitat for Humanity, PSU Berks and Family Promise.
